I set out to photograph the milky way last month. As I started out, I could see some clouds rolling in the southern sky. Sure enough, by the time I actually found a location that could see the southern sky (conveniently located by water for some great reflections too) the clouds had rolled in and the light pollution from the nearby town was bouncing around enough to spoil any milky way viewing for me. The night may have bee a bust for the milky way, but my evening outting wasn't a total loss.
