a new website

I'm getting fancy and getting an official website.  Sort of.  I've felt for some time that a website would be a good idea and it finally bubbled to the top of my list and I bit.  Blog posts will continue over there, so please come join me! 

Someday I'll get super fancy and somehow get this content on this blog sent over there, but for now, let's just call the website alone a win.

September- Our Life Is Here

We got to celebrate Labor Day with a family vacation to a family cabin near the Straits of Mackinaw.  We also go to join the thousands of people to do the Labor Day Bridge Walk over the Mackinaw Bridge.  It was a wonderful weekend away, one we will cherish for a long time to come.

Truth be told, I could eat cereal all day, every day.  Breakfast, dinner, snack time, I have no preference.  Today it was Honey Nut Cheerios, and it was delicious.

Our Life is Here- August

I've been working on some landscapes and perspectives lately.  Lets face it, when the weather is nice, I need to get out!  I really enjoy doing landscape work, mostly I really enjoy getting outside and spending a few moments alone.  Don't get me wrong, the vast majority of my shooting is around my house and my family, which I wouldn't change for a minute, but there is something about a great landscape shot that just takes my breath away.  I'm an outdoor junkie, and sometimes I feel it's only with a camera in my hand to I truly take a moment to slow down and soak in the scenery.

Milky way bust

I set out to photograph the milky way last month.  As I started out, I could see some clouds rolling in the southern sky.  Sure enough, by the time I actually found a location that could see the southern sky (conveniently located by water for some great reflections too) the clouds had rolled in and the light pollution from the nearby town was bouncing around enough to spoil any milky way viewing for me.  The night may have bee a bust for the milky way, but my evening outting wasn't a total loss.

I slipped away for another morning sunrise over the lake before work.  I only get an hour when I get out, and I could easily spend the entire day out there, but I'm always surprised enjoyable this hour is to me.

Long exposures + waterfalls

I've been trying to learn more about long exposures.  I went out to a little water falls that is just around the bend from my house.  I learned a few things: My tripod frustrates me.  I should wear tennis shoes when doing this.  Polarizing filters rock.  I need more practice.

I have a unreasonably large number of images of my kids.  I have many of them together.  Every so often though, I get one that is a personal favorite.
